Three days in Shanghai, at the 2026 International Seminar for Primary and Secondary School Principals, ended with a great success for IISS “Ettore Majorana” in Brindisi and for Book in Progress AI. Fourteen countries took part and showed keen interest in our model of ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence. Agreements for international collaboration are already under way.
The seminar
The seminar brought together in Shanghai school leaders and representatives from 14 countries: Canada, the United States, Brazil, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Estonia, France, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, South Korea, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand. Participants included primary and secondary schools, organizations, universities and a school district.

The Majorana’s talk
In the parallel session on technology-supported teacher training (Technology-empowered teacher learning), Principal Salvatore Giuliano presented the talk “Teachers as authors, AI under control”: how a national network of Italian schools enables teachers to learn in the age of artificial intelligence by producing their own teaching materials first-hand, with AI under the control of those who teach.
IISS “Ettore Majorana” also brought to Shanghai the recognition it received as the category winner for AI Transformation of the Global Schools Prize 2026.
An achievement for Italian state schools
An achievement that brings Italian state schools, and the community of Brindisi, onto a world stage. The agreements reached in these days open the way to international collaboration around Book in Progress AI: a model in which teachers remain the authors and artificial intelligence is a tool at their service.
Thank you to everyone who made all this possible.
